Planning a hen party is great fun – deciding where to go, what you want to do, who is coming. Then there are all the secondary things to think about, those must have things that finish the planning perfectly. To help you figure out what these are, here are some of the best must-have hen party items.
1. The costumes
Depending on the type of hen party you are having, costumes can mean anything from sashes with ‘hen party’ on to complicated, character costumes. The trick with them is to decide early what you want to do and if it is compulsory or not – not everyone might want to dress up as Catwoman or something funny. But you still might want to have something that ties the group together such as matching tiaras or badges.
2. The playlist
If you are providing your own music, get a hen party playlist together before the big day. You want music that puts everyone in the party food, maybe favourites from when you were younger or those songs that you just have to dance to. Load them up on a favourite music streaming app and have them ready to go with the press of a button.
If the event is going to be in a hired hall, pub or even someone’s house then plan out any decorations beforehand. Balloons, banners, bunting and more can all be ordered with the bride’s name on it and will make the place seem like a hen party haven. You can even match it up with the costumes – at least for colours!
Deciding on what you want to do also means deciding on the entertainment or what activities the party will involve. This can be something like having buff butlers serving cocktails to guests when they arrive or running party games. It might be something like having a sit-down meal before going for some drinks then hitting the nightclubs. Prepare ahead to ensure you can book everything you want.
5. Emergency kit
Those little first aid kits should be with someone in the party – usually the most responsible person (if there is one) and put those little essentials it like plasters and repair kits for the odd wardrobe malfunction. Because someone always has one, usually at the worst moment!
6. The right footwear
Again, depending on what you are doing for the hen party, telling people what the right footwear is can be an essential step. Flat shoes when walking around town will quickly be a must-have if you don’t want sore and tired feet and high heels might work for some people when dancing – but not for everyone!
7. The recovery kit
A few essentials in a bag for the next morning is another must have for a hen party. A bottle of water, paracetamol for the headache, orange juice for vitamin C and some crisps are the kind of thing you will be thankful for if you wake up the day after with a massive hangover.
