When you are responsible for coming up with ideas on how to raise funds for the charity you are involved with, the pressure is on. Sure, there are lots of classics out there that can be used as inspiration but what if you want unusual ideas for a charity fundraising event – or a clever twist on an idea? Here’s some inspiration.
Scavenger hunts
If the charity is something to do with kids or families, this one is a brilliant idea. Scavenger hunts are very popular and easy to arrange – you might even be able to get a local company offering an existing hunt to get involved. But even on a small scale, hiding clues around a location and giving prizes for the winners can be a great way to raise money from the entry fees.
Charity sports match
Okay, this one isn’t exactly unusual because there are lots of big charity events out there. But that doesn’t mean you can’t scale down the event for your charity or even choose a less obvious sport to be the centrepiece of the event. If it is a ladies charity, for example, netball is big news at the moment, so a charity netball even could be great fun – and might even attract attention from people in the top level of the sport.
Buff butler ladies night
For ladies charities or a night just for the ladies, then there’s nothing better than having buff butlers there to take care of things. You can arrange a night in a hotel, a private room in a pub or other venue – our butlers can work in a variety of locations. Then you can have a meal and our butlers can serve drinks, make cocktails or even do things like running party games if you want something a bit livelier.
Arrange a fun run
People are more conscious of getting exercise and keeping fit, so a fun run can be a great way to fundraise and help people get off the sofa. You could even have a theme for customers like the London Great Gorilla Run did where runners took on an 8km route around the centre of London – dressed as gorillas – to raise money for an endangered animals’ charity.
Street art
There’s a growing interest in street art and this has led to a type of fundraiser known as paint hams. Here a number of street artists come together to live paint while people pay to watch them. Or you could arrange a raffle or auction of some art work to raise the funds. You could even turn it into a festival-type event and invite local businesses to put up stalls and sell their products.
Gaming competition
The parents might not thank you, but a charity gaming competition will be one that the kids will definitely get into. You could even go with retro gaming consoles that the adults remembered using as kids and give them the chance to beat the young ones for a change!
